Helicity-dependent resonant X-ray scattering in CuB<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub>

Exploitation of X-ray circular polarized beams to study forbidden Bragg reflections and new information that could be obtained in these experiments are discussed. It is shown the intensities such can different for right- left-circular polarizations ( i.e. exhibiting dichroism) even dipole–dipole resonant transitions involved scattering process. This difference observed only crystals having no center inversion. Here, this approach used helicity-dependent diffraction copper metaborate CuB 2 O 4 single crystal, which non-centrosymmetric but achiral. Nonetheless, a strong dichroism has been hh 0 vicinity Cu K -edge. effect originate from dipolar atoms occupying 8( d ) Wyckoff position only.
